I am sharing two cards today, made with the same supplies. One is a bit more complicated and one is more simple. Just wanted to show you two different ways to work with the same products. I am featuring the amazingly gorgeous new Poinsettia Dies. OOOH LA LA.
This first card is a 5x5 inch square made from kraft cardstock. I layered some gold glitter paper as my first layer, and then my focal/top layer. I love making square cards! I usually just use an A7 envelope (5x7 inches) for my square cards because then it's not more postage. Why do square envelopes cost more? LOL.

Here's a close up shot of my sentiment circle. This top layer is cream, red, and more kraft cardstock fitted together into this pattern. I used the gorgeous new Snowflake Stencil to make the cream part of the card. And here you can see that I stenciled one more matching snowflake on top of the sentiment. Just adds one more fun detail I think.

Here is a close up of the stenciled part of the card. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to make subtle, vintage inspired snowflakes paper! Then I splattered "snow" onto it! I'm very happy with how this came out! I am becoming more of a stenciler for sure! I also inked all around the edges of this part of the card - also using Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I used the innovative Stacked Edges Dies to make that perfect red swoosh over the bottom 1/3 of the card... Then, of course, that beautiful poinsettia is the star of the show! Oh, I had so much fun making this!

Here's a close up of just the poinsettia flower. It's a layering die set, and there are three different sizes of flower shapes that you layer on top of each other. There are also two different leaves dies, and two dies for the center. I went with a watercolor effect - and also splattered ink and snow over all the pieces. It just looks wintery and icy to me this way! I wanted to make my favorite color of poinsettia - that deep rose pink.... I love those!!! So I mixed and matched watercolors until I got just the right shade.

Some of my supplies...

These next few photos are some step-out photos of my process. I hope you find this helpful!! I started with a giant slab of watercolor paper. I freehand painted big swaths of pink/red and green onto it - no rhyme or reason. I let that part dry, and then splattered gold paint and white paint - and then let it dry most of the way by air. Then, a quick shot with my heat tool.

Once the watercolor paper was dry, I die cut out the flowers and leaves. I had enough paper to make two big poinsettias. I layered them together using liquid glue so they would stay together nicely.
And here's my stenciling process... I really like to use cream cardstock instead of bright white when I'm creating a vintage feeling card. And, I love red, cream and kraft for Christmas!

So I originally thought two poinsettia flowers would fit on that big square card, but they didn't. LOLZ. So that's how we arrived at this second version! I used the leftover stenciled piece to form a border onto an A2 Kraft card base. Then I mounted the flower onto it. Done. Boom. Oh, yeah, plus some white paint splatters. (Gotta have snow, right?)

For this card I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!! I'm so happy to have you here!! This is a wonderful new release from Pretty Pink Posh and I know you're going to find something you love and want to create with!
