Hey everyone! I hope you're feeling groovy today! Because I have some groovy cards for you! Ha! These cards were inspired by my childhood, growing up in the 70's! Did you grow up watching Brady Bunch and Partridge Family? (original episodes)! Did you have feathered hair? Did you ride your bike everywhere? Did you drink your water intake from the hose outside? Then you will relate to these fun and funky projects. I grew up in California in the 70's. In middle school there was a definite "look" for us kids. We all wanted OP (Ocean Pacific) shirts and white Nikes with a red swoosh. It was the uniform of my school. Those OP shirts came in strange color combos, totally indicative of the time period. I remember them so well! And if I close my eyes I can smell Love's Baby Soft.... (CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME PICTURES)
Inspiration comes in funny ways to me... It might be a magazine ad, a flower, a color combo... In this case, I was inspired to make this card because of those OP shirts! A combination of dies I have purchased over the past few months were on my table together...and the idea popped in my head! I love to make cards using stamps and dies from all my supplies, mixing and matching products from different companies. I feel that this adds another level of creativity and makes our projects uniquely ours. The way we see things and combine things makes for great art. SUPPLY LIST HERE or at the bottom of the post!
Today's cards use only dies, no stamps. I like to do that too! I made one card in warm tones with a cream background, and one card in more vibrant tones with a bright white background. I also changed the orientation of the cards to show you how you can change things up! Grab your surfboard and let's look!
Both of these cards are A2 size! One is white and the other is cream cardstock. One is horizontal and one is vertical. These cards were made with four different dies: The wave, the palm trees, the rainbow background, and the good vibes. I used my favorite AC Cardstock to mix and match colors until I got just the right combinations. I used lots of black accents to look like silhouettes against the rainbow. The Good Vibes die is so cool - it comes with two pieces so you can make a background layer.
The Good Vibes sentiment is mounted to the card with foam tape. The Rainbow die covers the entire card front.
I added a couple of enamel dots for just a bit of color on those black silhouette palm trees.
