ALOHA! It's almost the weekend! I'm swinging by today with some tropical party drinks to start off the beginning of the beginning of the weekend! LOL. I love these stamps and colored them a bit ago for the coloring challenge. I had fun digging out loads of bright colors of Copic Markers. Then I layered on some glitter and lots of clear glaze. Whew. I get thirsty just looking at this card! Won't you join me? Cheers! I hope you had a great week! I had a busy week which is good - lots of work to do. I'm grateful for it!
This card started with me coloring these awesome images with Copic Markers one night.... Then I designed a card around them. The images were drawn by my friend Peggy Jo Ackley for her line of stamps from Impression Obsession. Her company is called Pink Ink and it's great! She is a local artist and I've had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and having her sign my coloring book and pencil in a stamp for me! I saw these clear stamps at my LSS and had to get them!
The finished card is a white A2 card base. I used a Pineapple Embossing Folder I bought at Joann to emboss another white layer for the card. I wrapped the embossed layer with some green striped paper from Sunny Studio. This formed the layers for the card itself. I also splattered some tropical green ink over the embossing. I die cut a white stitched circle for the drinks to sit on.
This word die is called Scripty Aloha, and it's from Lawn Fawn! It was the perfect sentiment for this card!
I stamped and die cut out the four drinks and colored them with LOTS of Copic Markers! It took me a while to color all of these. I started by making all the glasses the same color - to tie the project together. To mimic glass I always use BG10 and BG11 with some 0 mixed in. This is the closest I can come to looking like a frosty glass. After I colored them all, I added white accents with a gel pen. Then I put about 10 layers of clear glaze over some parts using a Sakura Glaze pen. Put on one layer, let it dry, add another layer, let it dry...etc. etc. This project took a lot of patience!
Here are my little tropical drinks all lined up on the bar!
The drinks were attached to the circle die using foam tape. Then I glued the aloha word on with clear glue, using my tweezers.
ALOHA friends! I'm excited about my weekend! Tomorrow the hubs and I are going to the Stamp/Scrap Expo and then to meet up with friends. Then on Saturday my crafty friends from the bay area are coming to town for a class. Then we'll get dinner and coffeeeeeeee. (Julie E is in town - woot!) Hope you have a delightful weekend! XOXO
