Hello my sweet crafty pals! How's your week going? It's been a great week so far here in California! The weather turned a bit cooler yesterday, and I'm still thinking of my really fun weekend full of both personal and work activities. The Hero Arts Kit sold out quick this time. (Monday's post) I hope if you wanted one that you got one!! I had a sneaky feeling that one was going to go fast.
I'm suuuuuper excited about what I'm doing tomorrow!! This year I am one of the judges for the California State Fair! I'll be judging the Paper Crafting Divisions along with my fellow judges all day tomorrow. I am seriously so excited about this awesome opportunity. I can't wait to see all the entries! There are four categories: Card Making, Scrapbooking, Origami, and Other paper crafts. I will try to share some Instagram stories from the fairgrounds tomorrow once I find out if it's okay. Yippeeee! Totally the highlight of the Summer for sure.
Today's card makes me SMILE from ear to ear! You already know that I {heart} Honey Bee Stamps! And their new ladybugs stamps are seriously the cutest. The stamp set is called Little Ladies! They are big and chunky and fun to color. The little faces are separate stamps so you can choose the expression for your ladybugs! I adore the one with the big red lips!! And the sentiments...Don't even get me started. Ladybug Hugs??? Are you kidding me?
Here's a side view so you can see all the layers and the shine on the ladybug spots. I used mini wobbles to attach the ladybugs to the card. More on that later! I started with an A2 card base and then layered Doodlebug Gingham Paper, Red Cardstock and then another white layer. I used a few different stamp and die sets for the flowers, leaves and ladybugs. Info on supplies at the bottom of my post. I stamped and die cut everything out first.... Then I used Copic Markers to color everything. For the green leaves, I used green cardstock and then I inked the edges with Twisted Citron Distress Ink and a sponge dauber. A white gel pen was used to add highlights over the coloring.
I used Glossy Accents to make the spots very shiny and slightly raised. I used a few different shades of reds to color the girls. I didn't use black for the 'black' parts - but rather darker shades of cool greys. I think this looks a bit less intense and vivid. I almost always use dark grey to color black objects. In this pic you can see those ladies popping up off the card!
Those lips, right???? EEP.
I love the sentiments set - It's called Love Bug. All the words are separate so you can choose your perfect sentiment. I chose this because I loved it, but also because these words fit right into the space I had for words. The flowers, leaves and heart were all attached to the card with foam tape.
I used Mini Action Wobbles underneath both of the ladybugs. These are cool little things that attach one side to the card and one side to your object and then there is a tiny plastic spring in between...so you get a wobble!!!
Here you can see the plastic spring mechanism! These are so easy to use. They go flat for mailing and then pop back up!
It's not easy trying to get an action shot!! LOL.
Here's a close up of the flowers and leaves.
So, my little ladybugs, that's it for me today! I truly hope this card made you smile too! I want to put ladybugs on everything now! Have a wonderful, happy and blessed day! I'll see you soon! XOXOXO
SUPPLIES FOR TODAY!
