UPDATED 6/19/17: MY LUCKY WINNER IS DANIELLE DIETZ!!! Email me if we haven't already connected! Thanks everyone!
Hey friends! I'm squeezing a post in this afternoon because the mailman just dropped off something fun I ordered for a giveaway! Woot! So I ripped open the box, and made a card really quickly to share. Most of all, though, I want to share some fun new Doodlebug supplies with YOU!! I pretty much buy every single Doodlebug release - like the entire release. (I might have a problem, but more on that later!) I also collect the AMAZING Doodlebug Collectible Pins! CLICK HERE for a pic of my growing collection. When I saw the newest release - called Yankee Doodle, I wanted it all, especially the new pin, because it's an American flag. CLICK HERE to see ALL the pins!! So I did my order and thought - let me order two of things so I can share with my fabulous blog readers! YAY! Details on the giveaway are at the bottom of my post.
For my card, I started with an A2 card base in a pretty shade of medium blue. Then I layered white cardstock. The rest of the card is all papers from the 6x6 paper pad! I cut out some of my favorites, and then cut out the little pictures that were on one of the sheets. Easy Peasy! I think it took me about 30 minutes to make this card. No stamping! I added a few accents of sequins, twine and a pin. All in pretty tones of red, white and blue!
I loooooove that little paisley print! It's the absolute perfect scale for a card!
GIVEAWAY!!!
To win the giveaway, leave a comment here on my blog and tell me what you're doing for the 4th of July this year! Or tell me a favorite memory of a 4th of July in the past! That's it! I can't wait to read your answers!! The prize includes a Limited Edition Flag Pin, a 6x6 paper pad, American Flag washi tape, and the card I made! Please leave your comment by Sunday the 18th at 9pm EST. I'll pick the randomly drawn winner on Monday the 19th and email you to get your address. GOOD LUCK!
Last night I went to a fun blogging meet up and on the way in to the event I spotted these flowers. I got my camera out of my purse and took a quick photo! Don't they make you happy?? Nothing is happier than bright yellow flowers! They look like Summer to me....
Thank you for popping by! Good luck with the giveaway! See you tomorrow! XOXO
SUPPLIES AND LINKS FOR TODAY!
Such a darling card! Doodlebug has the cutest products! One of my favorite 4th of July memories was when we lived in St. Louis. We went down to the Arch. We sat & watched the fireworks shot off from the barges on the water. It was fabulous!

Absolutely adore your 4th of July card!
This 4th of July I will be spending the day with family visiting, eating and just having fun. I plan on making a red, white and blue dessert of some kind! I love your blog and hope you are having a great day and staying cool in this HOT Sacramento weather.

Beautiful card Wanda. July 4th is my husband's birthday so we normally cook out and have family over. My favorite memory is 22 years ago when we were stationed in Savannah, Georgia at Ft. Stewart and our daughter was due to be born July 4th. I did not want her to have the same birthday is her dad so I drank a little bottle of castor oil on July 1st hoping to have her early. Sure enough I started having contractions so we went to the hospital on post. To make a long story short it was one hilarious evening. They didn't have enough doctors on call so they kept sending ladies home to stay until they were ready to pop so to speak. Well my husband worked in the hospital in the military and he refused for me to be sent home. So when the time came to have her he ran out to the hall and looked for a doctor and they were all busy in other rooms delivering babies. I remember the panic in his voice as he screamed "my wife is having this baby..get someone in here now!" Eventually someone came in the nick of time and after 2 pushes she was born! Best 4th of July present ever. :)

4th of July is a big deal where I grew up in northern Minnesota. Everybody goes home for the 4th! There are class reunions, parades, picnics, games and a lot of family fun! Street dance the evening of the 3rd, then a huge parade on the morning of the 4th (we meet at my brother's before the parade for a fabulous caramel roll - made by his wonderful wife!). After the parade we always have our family day - time at the lake, a lot of food, games and reminiscing. When we were kids Dad always took us to the Dairy Queen before the fireworks. Always a fun-filled day with family!

My town has a super July 4th celebration. My favorite part of the day is watching the young people participate in the parade. The whole community comes, out to watch. Then aparty in the park and fireworks. Before my dad declined my parents would come 2 hrs to our home and spend the 4th with us. Such fond memories!

My husband and youngest son has to work. The rest of us will probably just be lazy, order pizza and watch the fireworks from the front porch.

We are BBQing at the beach :)

Love the bright colors that represent our great country. Not sure what we are doing this year, however, a great memory, for me is three years ago I had a party at my house. My Dad was not well but he came and had such a good time! He passed that November but have wonderful pictures and memories from that day.

Love your card Wanda. I'm also a lover of all things Doodlebug! My favorite memory of July 4th is sitting on my Grammy's lap watching all the kids (mainly boys) shot off firecrackers and waving sparklers in the cul de sac where she lived! I was afraid of all that! I loved the festive BBQ we had in the backyard before fireworks began!
Posted by: Suzie Padrick | 06/16/2017 at 03:42 PM
We are lucky enough to live within walking distance of our town's 4th of July fireworks display. Our 'kids' bring their kids and we load up the strollers and wagons and walk to the lake. We toss a blanket on the ground and we all pile onto the blanket and watch the crowds and the fireworks. It's fabulous and so inspiring.

Oh Wanda, you're too sweet! :-)
My Mom's fave color is yellow, so I think of her (happy!) when I see yellow flowers.
We don't do much for July 4th ... we can see about three shows right from our upstairs bedroom - we have floor to ceiling windows overlooking a golf course. I usually just sit there and watch a show (if I'm not working!). It's free and it's safe. lol

Very cute card!! Thanks for the opportunity to win the fun prize! We have been invited to friends this year for a barbecue and then probably will head over to our daughters home to watch their fireworks (that's where we get to see the delight in our grandkids eyes when they get to do the "sparkers".) The simple pleasures right?....
Posted by: Natalie Houston | 06/16/2017 at 02:17 PM
I will probably be working on the 4th. I love your card!
Posted by: Debbie Hallamek | 06/16/2017 at 12:51 PM
Cute card. I like the paisley print too. Thirty years ago my youngest son was born on the 4th of July so we will be celebrating that and one of my granddaughters will be turning 7 on the 9th as well as one of my daughter-in-laws. We will have a cookout and there will be lots of food and cake and ice cream. Usually we go fishing and boating on our pond too. Somebody usually brings some sort of fireworks.

Hi Wanda, Your card is so adorable! It really screams 4th of July. Every year since I was married 19 years ago, My husband and I would go down town and watch the fireworks over the river. My son who is 16 and has autism also has gone since he was 4 years old. He enjoys them so much.
Posted by: Sarah Biswabic | 06/16/2017 at 10:43 AM
So cute! We love to hit the fireworks wherever we are!
Posted by: Teri W | 06/16/2017 at 09:42 AM
Wanda! I LOVE your card and agree with you about the paisley print! So cute! My favorite thing to do on the 4th of July is to go to Los Gatos (CA). On the big high school lawn they have a band playing patriotic classics and everyone beings a picnic basket and enjoys the performance. Afterward, there's ice cream on the square and shopping downtown - all within
walking distance! Then we go home and do fireworks with our neighbors in Gilroy, VS (of course, with a BBQ and fun for the little ones). Hope your 4th is equally enjoyable! I'm grateful for our freedom.

My favorite memory on the 4th, sitting in a backyard party on a tiny neighborhood lake. Our party was setting off fireworks, trying to outdo another party that was on the other side of the lake setting off theirs. The colors were beautiful and the friendly taunting was fun.
Posted by: Rachel W | 06/16/2017 at 08:41 AM
First of all I love the card you made with all the great patriotic colors and designs. My favorite memory is from a Fourth of July celebration three years ago when we were awaiting word of the birth of our granddaughter. Complications set in so we were all worried, She had to be delivered by C-section. Well, she did arrive safely July 5th and her Mom was fine too. And she still to this day is a little fire cracker and a blessing to all of us.

Doodlebug has the BEST 6x6 pads. Unfortunately, my craft store in Fremont, Mi is closing. So I will have to order online or make a 35 mile drive to get my Doodlebug fix. It will be a new adventure. My memories of the 4th is sparklers and my Mom's homemade potatoes salad. We will view the fireworks from two close by communities from the backyard. Bon fire and hotdogs. Love your tribute card, God Bless our USA!

Hello Wanda! We will be here at home with the kids, grandkids and our neighbors...hanging out, eating & patiently waiting for fireworks. Happy 4th!!!

Hi Wanda! The 4th of July will be spent here at my house with all my kids and their kids! We will have brats and tons of other food on the deck and then we'll all jump into the pool to cool off. I love spending time with my family!

What a wonderful collection, bright and happy, like all things Doodlebug! We really don't have any plans for the 4th itself, but a nice memory of a past holiday is being with a special aunt and uncle at their hunting camp in the country in PA and celebrating with my cousins. That couple had no children of their own, so they always made their nieces feel special.

Love the 4th of July,.probably because my birthday is two days later. Usually we all go to the levee to see the fireworks each year. There is always a huge display and everyone comes out.
Since the crowd is getting larger each year we may opt to start staying in and having cook outs with the family instead of piling the family to the levee.

Swim party for our church family is the traditional fourth for our family!! I love DOODLEBUG TOO!!

I love Doodlebug! I love your card and that paper pad is great. My family is sort of last minute so I don't know if much will be going on. Probably will be a quiet day alone.

Friends who have become family, picnic @ the park, firework over Lake Erie.
Such a cheerful card! Great patriotic paper pack!

Very cute and festive card! We don't have any plans yet, but my favorite 4th of July was many years ago when we went to California with our kids to visit my mom, who is no longer with us. I'd love to have another 4th of July--or any day--with my mom. Thanks for the chance to win!
Posted by: Linda M. | 06/16/2017 at 05:57 AM
Your card is so darn cute, Wanda! What a great release! This year, like always, we'll be heading to my sister's house in Davis. There will be a barbecue, swimming, and then the parachuters' show before the firework show. Something we always look forward to!

Such a sweet and adorable card. I do so admire your wonderful gift of creativity. My best 4th of July's were when my husband and I were stationed in Hawaii. You could see the fireworks in downtown Honolulu from where we lived about 13 mikes away. They really knew how to put on a show.
My best to you and Gid's blessings on your continued endeavors!
Posted by: Terri | 06/16/2017 at 05:31 AM
Fabulous and festive card...love all that red white and blue! Love your sweet flower photo too. 4th of July is always a quiet one for us, we stay at home and have a family BBQ.

Wonderful cards (as usual) Wanda! I love Independence Day and Red, White, & Blue. I pray for the comfort of Veterans who have survived combat and for the frightened pets, but then I enjoy all of the noisy fireworks! My favorite memory of the holiday is from 1996. I was working in Fairfield, Connecticut, for a temporary job. My Landlord had a boat, Nd took us (my brother & sister were out to visit!) out on Long Island Sound. Best. Show. Ever. We could even hear the orchestra playing in the pavilion. When they played the National Anthem, a massive cheer ripped along the entire shoreline! I still get goosebumps. πΊπΈ

Really pretty card Wanda, I always look forward to your posts and creations. I'm a big fan of red, white, and blue and even bigger fan of doodlebug designs. This year will be very different for the 4th as we are moving our youngest to the other side of the state into his first apartment for a job he recently started.

What a fun card and a great release. I always loved the color combo of red, white and blue. For the 4th of July we are flying our boys home from Boston for a week's vacation. My husband and I will be celebrating 40 years of marriage on June 18th but we are really celebrating on the 4th of July when all the family will descend on us. My youngest is a pyromaniac so he'll be doing the fireworks. Of course there will be lots of food and family and friends to enjoy our time together. 40 years seems like a long time but I hope we have 40 more together! Thanks for the chance at your wonderful prize!

Love your card, as usual:) I love everything red, white and blue...We're going on a extended family vacation over the 4th to a resort city in our state of Michigan. Renting a house, bonfires, fireworks out over the lake. Can't wait!!!

This year we will celebrate Independence Day with neighbors at a cookout. A favorite memory is when my grandparents visited over the 4th. We kids played in the sprinkler, we ate hamburgers and hotdogs, corn on the cob, and watermelon (tradition!). We lit sparklers as soon as it got dark, running around the backyard, having so much fun. Ah, simple days, good memories! (Love your card)

Love the card!!! It's da bomb!!!!ππππππ
Thanks for this generous opportunity.
We usually have a cookout with friends and watch local fireworks. Then because we're here in the Midwest and can see far and wide, sit on our deck and scan the horizon and watch a panoramic view of neighboring areas along with the nearby flicker of fireflies...bliss.
Hope yours is a safe and magical.
God Bless AmericaππΊπΈππΊπΈππΊπΈπ

I am a red, white, and blue lover so this Doodlebug collection is perfect for me. And by the way your card is delightful! We have been invited to spend 4th of July at our friends' lake cottage-it will be a weekend of good food, lots of laughs, and watching the neighborhood fireworks.
Thanks for the giveaway.....

Very cute card! We are usually at our family cabin around July 1st, so we celebrate Canada Day and then we get to have a 2nd celebration with the 4th of July. On Canada Day, our Canadian neighbor has a huge potluck get together with lots of yummy different foods, games and fireworks over the lake. On the 4th, we usually cook hamburgers and hot dogs for supper, have a campfire, make smores and light up our Sparklers. Lots of fun and making memories, can't wait!

OMGosh love the card, the paper, and the washi tape, thank you for the chance to win. My favorite thing to do on the 4th of July is to drive to the coast and watch the the fireworks displayed over the pacific ocean. We usually can find a great spot just off the road and sit in the car and watch them for an hour. So beautiful.
