STAMPtember 2016 Kick Off!

HI EVERYONE!!! Yes, I'm shouting because I'm so super excited to share the kick off to STAMPTEMBER 2016 with you! Stamps, dies, envelopes, new paper, new ink pads, and much more! I just know you're going to find something (or many things) that you love! It's really such a fun event and I am blessed to be a part of it. It's been hard to keep a secret, but now you can share in the joy with me! I have three blog posts coming up in the next three days so I hope you will come back and see what's new each day here. GIANT blog hop on Saturday the 3rd! Prizes! There are MANY limited edition stamp release collaborations with our favorite companies. These will be released all month! One of them might be on Friday (Just sayin')! Thanks so much for coming by! I am sharing three projects today. Two felt plushies made with new felt dies (LOVE) and one sweet birthday card made with the new Sweet Cakes stamp set. First up are these cute little felt owls! I made one in natural colors and one in bright vivid colors. These are really sweet and so much fun to make. All my supply links are at the bottom of my post - colors, etc. I want to make a million of these cute owls!

You can make these any color to fit any motif or style! I used black enamel dots for their eyes and then added tiny white accents with a white Sharpie pen!

HOOOOOOOT! Aren't I cuuuuuuuute?! Simon Says Stamp has about a million colors and kinds of felt in the store. Something for everyone. CLICK HERE to see all the felt options!

Next I have a fun and festive birthday card to share, made using the sweeetest new stamp set. It has cakes, and cupcakes, and different cake stands.... Oh, and beautiful fonts. I used the Lawn Fawn plaid paper to showcase some cheerful colors. I also used the brand new scallop border dies to make a pretty divider for my card layers. I colored in the cupcake and stand using Copic Markers to match the paper.

And, last but not least for today, a sweet little felt elephant! I love him too! I could make felties all day long!! I made some eyelashes on him using embroidery floss and just a few quick stitches. I think this makes him look happy and sleepy.

This would make a darling nursery mobile, or a gift bag tie on for a lovely baby present. EEEK.

Color Throwdown #408 - August Guest Designer!

Hello crafty friends! As I've been blogging all month, I am the lucky guest designer on the awesome Color Throwdown Blog for the month of August! Woot! That means that each week, on Wednesday at midnight EST, I've be posting a new project inspired by a specific color palette. I just posted a coffee card....but here I went and made another one! Pretty much crafting and coffee are my life! LOL. Today I used the cute stamp set called Oh Frappe! I made a bunch of cute cold frappe cups and lined 'em all up. That's my idea of happiness! These bright vivid colors lend themselves to such a cheerful card. I used Kuretake Zig Clean Color Brush Markers to color the images. I stamped onto watercolor paper too.

So many ideas for this one!

Some of the cups were mounted directly onto the card, and others were popped up with foam squares. I chose a sweet and simple black and white gingham for my background.

But first coffee....always!

I used a Clear Wink of Stella pen to add shimmer to the coffee cut lids to make them shiny! It's hard to photograph the shimmer!

What's Brewing! Coffee, of course!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! What's brewing!? Best wishes for a fabulous weekend! I'm sharing a bright and cheerful coffee card with you today. I can never get enough coffee - or cute coffee stamps! I got some new papers that are so colorful and I wanted to use this stripe along with some of my fav Simon Says Stamp images. And, this little stack of coffee cups was created!

I stamped the mug three times to make a stack. (What's Brewing Stamp Set) I used the awesome Inkadinkadoo Masking paper to mask of the mugs as I stamped them. The reason this paper is so great is that it is super thin, so you get a nice clean line where your images intersect. I knew I wanted some flower power on this card so I used the funky flower from the Simon Says Stamp Blooming Day stamp set. It's the perfect size and scale for the mug. I matched my ink colors to the paper to tie it all together nicely.

I started with a white A2 card base and then covered it with the striped paper. My top layer with the stamping is attached with foam squares to raise it up off the background stripes. I used an Antique Linen Distress Marker to color the coffee (I like mine with cream and sugar!). A twine bow and a pretty sparklet gem to match and the card is done!

I love that sentiment- and the font! What's brewing?! This would be the perfect card for a girlfriend or a co-worker.

Color Throwdown #407 - August Guest Designer!

Today I made a watercolor butterfly using the three beautiful colors for this week. I happen to really love these colors together - so fresh and pretty. The big butterfly is the focal point of my card and then I layered some vellum leaves and a bit of text paper. I used one of my go-to stamp sets for the sentiment. It's from Altenew! Supply links at the bottom of my post!

And the Color Palette!

This card came together fairly quickly. I die cut the butterfly out of watercolor paper and then used Gansai Tambi watercolor paints to color it with the shades of this week. Pretty lime green, teal and yellow. These colors blend so great together. I used a wet on wet watercolor technique to get nice movement. I also die cut a Stitched Rectangle out of watercolor paper and used the teal shade to speckle some paint splatters. I set those two things aside to dry.

Next I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Clustered Leaves die using Vellum cardstock. This is such a pretty effect, and that die is one of my all time fav products from SSS. I used a punch to cut a scalloped circle out of text paper for the layer underneath the butterfly. The sentiment is stamped in Intense Black Ink and the cut out with scissors.

After all the pieces were dry, I assembled my card using a kraft card base. The butterfly and the sentiment are both attached with foam squares. I made three of these! Using all different colors. But I think this one came out the prettiest.

Hero Arts Winter 2016 Release Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! Happy Blog Hop Day! Wowza, are you in for a treat today - this is a huge blog hop with many fabulous designers. I'm very excited to be part of the fun and merriment. Welcome to the launch of the Winter 2016 Hero Arts Catalog! I have to admit I've been keeping these awesome products under wraps at my house for months already! Dang! Finally so happy to share projects with you. Before I start sharing cards, I really want to say something from my heart about being part of this fun Hero Arts Catalog launch. I hope you'll indulge me for just a little bit. I started stamping in 1994! My best friend and I thought it would be fun and cost effective (LOL) to make our own Christmas present tags! I lived in the Bay Area back then and we had many awesome local stamp stores. Most of the very first stamps I owned were from Hero Arts. I clearly remember stalking the stamp stores to find out when when when would all the new stamps be arriving?? We literally could not wait for new products and also the new Hero Arts catalogs! I used to obsess over the card photos in the catalogs and try to figure out how the designers made everything. I would tab my catalog, put x's next to the stamps I already had and refer back to it over and over. I have such wonderful memories of being a beginner stamper when it was all new and so exciting! No blogs back then and no Pinterest!! We were old school! So, fast forward 22 years...and this year I was asked to contribute cards to the Hero Arts Winter 2016 Catalog! Things came full circle for me in that instant and I had a bit of a tug on my heart strings about it. HOW cool and amazing that now I get to be part of this all these years later? BLESSED!! It is never lost on me how blessed I am to be a member of our stamping community. Dreams do come true. In this new catalog, you'll see these cards I'm sharing today...and a couple are even on the cover! I feel like I need to buy a bunch of copies! Creating in the company of other designers that I admire is awesome. Thanks very much to the Hero Arts family for the opportunity!

Now, on to some card ideas! I made several cards, in several different styles. I'll just write a little bit before each card. If you need or want more information, please email me and I'll be happy to talk to you! Click on the email button to the left here.

First up is a watercolor card made using the gorgeous new Holiday Floral Background stamp. I used Distress Markers and colored directly onto the large stamp. Then I misted the stamp with water and stamped it on watercolor paper for a nice flowy effect. I used the same technique for the sentiment stamp. Both of these stamps are wood mounted and they give such a nice impression. I trimmed the card down and gently distressed around the edges. A twine bow completed the card.

Next up is a bright and cheerful red and green traditional card made using the Christmas Tree Trimmings stamp set. I stamped all the images in shades or red, green and pink and then trimmed my panel. I cut the corners with a corner rounder and added a few pearls.

So I love coffee and I love Christmas! This coffee cup stamp set is entirely too fun! I stamped and cut out my focal images. Then I stamped some snowflakes for the background paper. Some sparkly glitter finished off the whole look!

This next card is very classic Christmas and vintage too. Pretty shades of red and green and kraft. I used the Vintage Post stamp set and layered stamps onto the different panels and card base. My main layer is cream cardstock instead of white for a softer look. This is a beautiful stamp set.

These guys are toooo cool and hip! I think they are hipster animals! This trio is the Winter Fox, Winter Bear and Winter Bunny stamps. I made my own background paper using clear stamps - the trees and snowflakes. Then I layered some die cut circles. I colored the animals with Copic Markers.

Oh, Layering Cardinal, how I love thee.... I inked and stamped this lovely bird onto a square card for a classic look. Just a few enamel dots and a twine bow to finish it off.

Lastly is this cute and fun Holiday Mittens card. I kept a clean card layout and stamped in vivid red, green and aqua for a fresh look. The snowflakes on the kraft paper were stamped in Versamark Ink for a watermark effect. This would be a great Christmas card to mass produce for your mailing list. (I need to get started on that)...

Color Throwdown #406 - August Guest Designer!

So here is my card, inspired by Green, orange and pink! That color combo is so fresh and citrus-y so I knew just what set to grab! The Hugs stamp set from Concord & 9th! It has beautiful citrus slices and great sentiments! I paired it with some blossoms from the Wildflower stamp set too (to add the pink!). I colored my images with gorgeous Kuretake Clean Color Markers for bright, clear colors! I like how this card came out! Now I want some orange juice! LOL.

Here is the inspiration image!

I started by stamping and heat embossing with white embossing powder onto the smooth side of watercolor cardstock. I used my Kuretake Clean Color markers and a water brush to paint all the orange slices and the flowers. then I cut them out with my detail scissors and se them aside. Next I die cut a watercolor panel using the Stitched Rectangles die set. I stamped my sentiment in rich black ink. For the leaves, I wanted them to be on the card, and not dimensional. I used the Kuretake Brush Marker directly on the leaf branch stamp and stamped it to the paper. The way the marker interacted with the clear stamps made the image look watercolored - which was perfect!

Then I layered my papers and also layered my flowers and orange slices. I used foam squares to pop them off the paper!

Consider YOURSELF freshly squeezed!

Simon Says Stamp September 2016 Card Kit!

Hello crafty peeps! It's that time again - time to reveal the newest, latest, and greatest card kit from Simon Says Stamp! YAY! I look forward to the 14th of every month, because I can't wait to share projects with you. I hope you get excited too! In case you're new to this, Simon Says Stamp releases a card kit every month and it contains a combination of things - stamp set, dies, paper, embellishments, cardstock, and tools. Each kit also contains an inspiration sheet you can use to get started on cards right away. This month's kit has pretty pastel shades and lots of things you need to make sweet and perfect birthday greetings. The kit also has something really fun! Scratch off stickers! Yes, you can make your own surprise greetings! The stamps fit perfectly under the rub on stickers. The colors this month are right up my alley! I hope you love it too. I made four totally different cards to share with you today. See, I couldn't stop myself!! LOL

First up is a shabby chic card made using several of the included patterned papers! I used a rich, black card base, and layered some distressed paper for a country feel. I used the SSS Stitched Banners and Stitched Ovals dies to complete the look. Black ink really offsets all the color. I combined two of the sentiment stamps to make one larger sentiment.

Next up is a soft and sweet balloon card! This is a great CAS card layout that works for any stamps! I love the overlapping ink colors and the simplicity of the bold words. I finished off the card using one of the included stickers and a bit of pretty yellow and white twine.

Next up, I tried using the balloon stamps with some watercolor paper and distress inks! This came out soft and lovely! I used grey ink to make the balloon strings to keep it simple. Then I layered patterned papers behind my focal image panel. I am really loving the sentiment stamps in this set! I used Distress Ink pads directly on my stamps and then spritzed them with a water mister before stamping them onto the paper. This gives more of a blurred edge and a nice effect.

This last card is super fun and cheery! I stamped a bunch of the smaller sentiment stamps randomly on a piece of white cardstock. Then I layered the balloon stamps over the 'happy birthday' words! Some polka dots complete the happy feeling to this one!

Neat & Tangled 4th Birthday Celebration Blog Hop!

This week is a VERY special week! It is the 4th birthday of one of our fav companies and friends - Neat & Tangled! To celebrate they are having a week long blog hop with guests and friends. I'm so happy and honored to be included in the fun! I know you're going to have a blast looking at all the inspiration all week! My card for today uses the new set called Little Stinker! LOL. Who doesn't love a cute little skunk? Especially when he's holding a letter! TOO adorable! I colored him with my Copic Markers and mixed in some of my other favorite Neat & Tangled stamp sets and a couple of pretty patterned papers.

I stamped the skunk twice onto crisp white neenah cardstock and die cut them out with the matching die. You can see I layered the letter and his little pompadour with some foam squares to add a bit of dimension. I used C7 Copic Marker as my 'black' portion for coloring. And then just a few pops of red and blue.

Color Throwdown #405 - August Guest Designer!

So here is my card, inspired by Green, Yellow and Aqua! This was the perfect color palette for me this week because my PTI order just arrived with these gorgeous tropical stamps and dies! So I made a happy birthday tropical creation! (plus I just love yellow!!)

Here is the color inspiration image:

I started with a white card base and then layered a piece of gorgeous striped paper onto it. OMG I love this color!!! (Sorry I digressed!) Then I cut a white layer as my focal point and used a corner rounder on all four corners. Next up was to have tons of fun mixing and matching inks and stamps to make the pineapple, leaves and flowers. (All stamps and dies are from Papertrey Ink). I stamped the sentiment in crisp black as a nice contrast to the bright colors.

This color palette is soooooo fresh and pretty! I feel like I need a mai tai right now! I can almost smell the Hawaiian breeze if I close my eyes! I layered all the pieces onto the card using foam squares.

After my card was all assembled, I went back with some Diamond Stickles and randomly added glitter to the leaves and petals. It's really hard to photograph glitter!!

Rainbows, Glitter, and Enamel Dots - these are a few of my favorite things!

Hey everyone! It's Sunday afternoon already?? How is that even possible?? I am in kind of a weird mood so forgive my story for today. Who knows, maybe I will make you laugh, and in the process, make myself laugh too. I have been in a BAD MOOD all day! I don't even know why... Nothing is wrong, I am happy and blessed.... And crabby! My friends always say "you are never in a bad mood!" But just ask my husband! Hahaha. Maybe chalk it up to being an old gal who has raging hormones... I dunno. I think I need to just ride it out. Even Buddy ran and went to sleep in his tent bed!! So I thought, what would make me happy today? Things that make me happy definitely include spending time in the studio. So, I came in here and decided to make a card. What kind of card to cheer myself up? Rainbows and glitter? Yes, please! So I channeled Lisa Frank and made a whimsical and bright rainbow card. Maybe I can share some happiness with you too! I feel better already.

I started by die cutting the rainbow, heart and word dies from crisp Neenah cardstock. After I colored my rainbows I added glitter Stickles...Then after that I added glitter enamel dots! LOL. This is a very clean and simple card for me. No paper layers, no patterned paper, eeek. Just about gives me a heart attack to make a one layer card! (Are you laughing with me or at me yet?) Well...the thing is, making this card cheered me up! And now I'm sharing some happy, glittery, rainbow cheer with you too. Have a great week ahead! XOXO

To color my rainbow pieces I just used the ink pads and rubbed then over the little arches. Easy as pie!! I used some really pretty tropical colors. That new yellow ink pad is called Lemon Zing! Right now it's only available as part of the Masterpiece Box - but it will be out and sold separately soon! I looooove it! After the rainbow pieces were dry, I assembled them using foam tape on the back. I took some Unicorn White Spray Mist and speckled white on both the rainbow and the heart. The heart die is the same color ink as the largest arch of the rainbow (Teeny Bikini is the color)

I die cut the happy word and then covered it with Platinum Stickles. This is one of my favorite Stickles colors. This project went kind of disco on me!! One tip I have for drying little pieces like this quickly is to set them on top of your Ott Lite!! It gets really hot, and Stickles dry like a dream!

Color Throwdown #404 - I'm the August Guest Designer!

Hello friends! Happy August! How are you? Hope you are doing great! I have some fun and exciting news today! I am the lucky guest designer on the awesome Color Throwdown Blog for the month of August! Woot! That means that each week, on Wednesday at midnight EST, I'll be posting a new project inspired by a specific color palette. I LOOOOOVE Color Throwdown and love the fun and fabulous designers on that team. I'm so happy to get to stamp with them all month. Thanks to Broni and the crew for having me! XO

The colors for this week are Aqua, White and Kraft! You can use generic colors (so any brand, type - whatever you have will work) and you can feel free to add in other neutrals (cream/black/etc) to make your creation pop! Anyone can play! Just add your beautiful project to the links list on the Color Throwdown Blog! So here is my card, inspired by Aqua, White and Kraft! I used gorgeous stamps and dies from WPlus9 and made a floral greeting.

I started my card with a crisp white card base in A2 size. Then I layered some aqua paper from my stash. I trimmed a piece of kraft cardstock to fit the layers and then used a Stitched Circle Die to cut a circle out of the lower right edge. I cut another, smaller circle, with a plain circle die and the aqua paper. Then I layered those two over white cardstock. I think it makes for a nice frame for the pretty sentiment. I used my MISTI stamping tool to stamp the flowers and leaves clusters on the kraft paper. It's non-traditional, and sort of old fashioned it think! I made one last little flower to add to some dimension near the sentiment.

I stamped the sentiment in crisp black ink. Then I added a few Glitter Enamel Dots for some more bits of white on the card. I always like to have different textures and surfaces on my cards.
