Hello friends! Oh. My. Goodness. I have been so busy and so tired! Hardly been stamping at all because I'm too pooped out after work every night....and lots of fun on the weekends! This weekend was the big Rubber Stamp Convention in Sacramento and I always work the front desk taking the tickets and money. That way I can see EVERYONE as they come in! Did I see you?
I want to take a minute to say something about a sad event from last week. My friend Diane announced that she is closing her amazing stamp/scrap store - Scrapbook Territory - in Berkeley. It has been opened for 12 wonderful years and it was my happy place. I am so sad - tears have been shed. I will miss the store and I will miss an amazing friend who always encouraged me and believed in me. She is moving away too. I will miss laughing with her and creating with her. She provided a place for us to be creative and to buy all the latest/greatest things. Her eye for picking products was always spot on. So, in this post, I say THANK YOU Diane and good luck to you in whatever the future holds. You will be missed.
Thursday night I managed to get in the studio after work because I wanted to make a baby card to give someone on Friday. Do you have people in your neighborhood that make you happy? Maybe someone at the bank, or at the grocery store, or the school... Well, I have my sweet girls at the Panera to make me happy in the mornings! I often stop for a muffin and coffee on the way to work and this cute crew brightens my mornings. (SEE this picture). Well, one of these cuties is prego and just found out it's a girl! I don't often get to make super sweet baby cards!
On my desk was the new Ella stamp set from Mama Elephant and it all just clicked together for me! The images and the sentiment are perfect for a baby card! I watercolored the sweet animals with my watercolor pencils (on watercolor paper) and cut them out with the matching dies... Then I had fun putting the card together! The pink is more of a rose/salmon pink and it's soft and pretty. The big checked paper is from Papertrey Ink.
These critters are seriously too adorable! Oh, and that tiny umbrella??? Kills me!!! All of the animals were stamped with archival ink onto watercolor paper. Then I used watercolor pencils and a water brush to color. This is a super easy way to ease into watercoloring! You take the pencils and color straight onto the paper...then take your water brush and move the color around with water until you get the look you want. Before I started using Copics, this was how I used to color everything.
The is Ella the Elephant! OMG! I had to put a teeny bow on her ear! The bow die is also from Mama Elephant. Cute as can be! I colored her with two shades of grey and then added a little rose to her cheek.
The sentiment and critters are all popped up with foam squares! I added some pearls here and there to make it more sweet and girly.
Happy weekend - what's left of it! Have a beautiful day friends!

I am so, so sad to hear about Scrapbook Territory! I had visions in my head of visiting there again with you someday soon. I have such happy memories of our last visit! :(
But thankfully you have so many wonderful things happening to keep your spirits up! I LOVE this card! Those little critters are the cutest things ever. I'm squealing over the tiny hedgie and mouse down at the bottom, and love that elephant with her pink bow. Gorgeous watercoloring, too. Just the cutest baby card ever!

Darling, darling card!!
Oh I am so bummed about Scrapbook Territory closing I was hoping to get there this summer while on vacation. LOVE that store, I work at our locally owned Scrapbook store in Eureka and when travelers would come to shop and were heading south I would recommend stopping there to shop too!

Darling card! Good news --Chico is finally getting a Panera!
I'm sad to see the lovely Berkeley store close but thankful we finally have a beautiful paper arts store in Chico w/ great make n takes and the nicest owner. Those of us fortunate to have local stores need to support them.

Good morning Wanda, Such a cute cute card for the momma to be! I'm sorry that you are losing your local creative store and the nearness of such a good friend. We lost local store about 2 years ago so now I wait for Mr.Brown to delivery my creative needs, not quite the same. Have a good week and take care of your self.
