Hi there friends! How was your weekend? Hope it was beautiful and fun! We hit 90 degrees here in Sacramento this weekend. Whew. Yeah, not ready for that - not by a long shot! I sat out in the sun and got some Vitamin D and a bit of color on my face...and spent some quality time in the studio. I took Friday off from work so it was a long three day weekend for me. Just what the doctor ordered! What did you do this weekend?
Today I'm sharing a project I made for the Taylored Expressions Blog last week! I wanted to post it here too, since it's a really fun project and could come in handy for upcoming parties and events you have planned. I made some pretty gift boxes with bows on top! These would make great party favors or giveaway treats at a home party event...really just about anything. Hope you enjoy the tutorial and hope you give it a try too!
If you make it all the way to the end of all these photos - I have a surprise waiting for you! (Hint, it might be a prize package!)
*****Edited 4/23/15***** LUCKY WINNER IS F. BOND!!! Lucky comment #5. If you haven't already, please email me your full name and your address! Congratulations!
Here is an overview shot of the four boxes I made. They were made using one of the awesome punch boards from We R Memory Keepers. This one is called the Gift Box Punch Board. I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy it was to make the boxes...and the best part? NO adhesive needed!!
The punch board comes with directions (Easy, but important to read - ask me why I know!) and a scoring tool. Everything you need!
After you are done punching and scoring all four sides you get this. There is even a diagram on the board so you know if you got it right! Love that.
These little notches are what hold the box together. Brilliant!!!
Fold and score all of your folds....
And MAGIC! See how professional it looks??? Repeat, NO adhesive was harmed in the making of this project. :-)
Here are my 'naked' boxes just waiting to be embellished!
I chose some pretty and bright papers from Echo Park and started cutting out strips of paper, bows, doilies, tags...anything I could think of!
For this bow, I glued three separate bows together! This one is fluffy!
Here I stacked two bows on top of each other... Really, the key is to just have fun with it!!
See that pretty blue on the underneath of this bow? TIP: Use double sided papers! That way the project will look pretty from any angle!
PRIZE ALERT!
Leave a comment below and tell me how you would use this idea! What ideas can we all come up with for these fun boxes? My next idea is Halloween treats! (imagine creepy spiders on top!) I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
Leave your comment before 5pm PST on Thursday, April 23rd. I'll pick one winner to receive a package of Taylored Expressions stamps and dies! Woooooot!

I have this punch board & have never used it yet. Thanks to you, I'm ready to give it a try.
I think that these would make nice Easter treat boxes for next year or Mother day boxes to hold gift cards or jewelry etc. Love your Halloween idea too.
Thanks for the inspiration :)

Don't own a punchboard - yet! THe boxes are so cute - I would have never thought to use kraft and then add all that color - gorgeous!

I am so impressed with the professional and clear pictures you have shared with us - and the way you made these boxes each look so unique and cool is awesome!! I think these boxes would be perfect for me to share chocolates with my friends at a Girls Night Out I will be hosting soon!! I will probably deck them out with lots of floral motifs because it is in May and you know the saying - May flowers!! Thank you for giving me so many ideas on the ways to make packages shine!! Awesome post and you are so cool!!!

I love your boxes with the kraft paper and bright pattern paper. I may have to use your inspiration for some baby shower favors I need to make:)

Great photo essay--I use the envelope punch board but it only works with solid papers or papers with patterns that look OK on the diagonal.
I think these little boxes would work well for baked treats.

These would be great for birthday "gift bags" or a rustic bridal shower!

OMG, these boxes are fantastic and I love that they require no adhesive! I would use them for wonderful little cupcakes or goodies for my grand-daughter! I love watching her little face when she opens up something fun!

Hi Wanda, I live in your area and yes it was quite warm here yesterday. I would use the boxes to hold Easter and Halloween candy for my grandsons. They love opening little boxes. I would probably use patterned paper to make the boxes. I don't have a punch board but now I think I'll buy one!

These are so fun, Wanda! I love the combination of the prints and colors you used along with the kraft paper!
I'd make some fun little treat boxes for the gals in my ATC swap group!
My daughter just got engaged recently, so I can also see them dressed up for pretty wedding party gifts!

My husband volunteers at a chess club for underprivileged children. We like to provide treats for special occasions and tournaments - these boxes would be great!

These are amazing! Love these sweet gift boxes, Wanda! (p.s. I really need to pull my punch board some time. Thanks for the inspiration!)

I would use mine as favors for my sewing group. . Decorate the top with sewing notions and butttons, might add some fabric, and fill the inside with home made button cookies. I'm excited to make them.
By the way, your ideas are always so inspiring. Thanks so much!

I would have them as gifts at a baby shower. With cute little rattles or baby bottles coming out of the bows or snails and snakes. Because my daughters theme is snakes and snails and puppy dog tails. That's what little boys are made of.

I would take the boxes and turn them so that the bows are faced out and stack them for cakes and for center pieces at all the get togethers we have over the summer. And what a nice surprise that everyone could have a little goodie- whether a handcrafted item or food item, to take home. I love your boxes!
