Hi everyone! Yesterday was my first official post for A Blog Named Hero! I'm so excited to share this post with you today on my blog too!
I'm sharing a new technique I've been wanting to try (stamping on text) and an old technique I haven't played with in a while (watercolor pencils). I made a friendship card that would be good for any occasion and used some of my favorite Hero Arts stamps. Hope you like it!
You can see that I stamped the "Friendship Text" background stamp first in Distress Ink, and then stamped the beautiful flowers on top in a dark brown Memento Ink. The sentiment was stamped from the same brown ink to tie it all together.
My flowers are orange because they remind me of our California State Flower - the Poppy! I love this technique because you can see the text underneath the colored image. I just think that's so cool.
I picked a little sweet butterfly out of the "Antique Engravings" set to make a little accent piece. Isn't it sweet? I tied some twine around my card and then glued the butterfly on top.
Here's how my images looked before I started coloring...
I used a few shades of matching red and orange watercolor pencils.... If you've never tried watercolor pencils, you really should give it a go! Before I had Copics, this was my weapon of choice. You color on your paper with the pencils, and then go back with a water brush and wet the color. Voila! It all blends together so nicely.
Here are my supplies - you will find a link list below, at the end of the post!
A close up of the flowers and text...
Gorgeous...love the watercolour look.

Hi Everyone! I'm so sorry I didn't put this in my post! To answer the question... I stamped on regular vanilla smooth cardstock (from PTI). If I'm watercoloring a small image like this - it works just fine. Larger images would probably be better with watercolor paper. Don't be afraid to experiment! The water pens are great for getting just a small amount of water so your paper doesn't warp. Have a great day! Wanda

This is absolutely gorgeous!! Did you stamp on watercolor paper since water was involved for blending? Love the whole look to this card, beautifully done!!

So pretty! Love this technique! By the way, Wanda, I was wondering if you used watercolour paper or white card stock.

The poppies are one of my favorite (and most used) stamps. I don't use Copics, but I often use watercolor pencils, sometimes taking brush directly to the pencil for more intense color. I also like the effect of watercolor pencils and markers on watercolor paper.

Very pretty card. I've forgotten about my watercolor pencils. Did you use watercolor paper or regular cardstock?
