Hey there blog friends! Hope you're having a most fabulous Saturday! I'm in the crafty cave here for just a bit and then I'm dragging the hubs over to our BRAND NEW Hobby Lobby store that just opened this week! YAY! This is a new thing for us here in Northern California and I'm excited to get over there and see what's up! I'm sure the hubs is thrilled too...hee hee.
I have one last Halloween card to share today... Monday starts TE Sneaks for November... Yes, already! This Halloween card is for a special friend of mine...the fabulous and crazy Corky! She loves Halloween and also Dia de los Muertos. She makes such coooool projects and quilts and shrines. OMG I wish she had her own blog. Maybe I'll share the fun story of how I met Corky?? We met 16 years ago at a Rubber Stamp Convention! We were both looking at the same project display and started talking to each other. She said something like "No one ever sends me cool mail like that." So I said "Give me your address, and I'll send you some mail!" So I got her address....went home that night and whipped up a card for her using the neato 'A Stamp In The Hand' fruit stamps (awesome) and sent it the next day! I am sure she was quite surprised by that!! SO, for the past 16 years we have been pen pals and friends. Cool story huh? I love that story! Stamping girls ROCK!
Anyhoo, since Corky loves Dia de los Muertos and Halloween, I am always scouting for things to send her. This card today was inspired by a letterpress greeting card I found. I jazzed it up some, took it apart, and mounted it on her card.
Here is my inspiration palette of tihngs...You can see that letterpress card was only black and white. You know I had to add some orange to it!
I wanted a uniform color scheme so I needed some orange flowers! I had to make them from some plain white ones. I carefully covered each petal with glue and then submerged them in ultra fine glitter. I like that they came out sort of imperfect and vintage looking. This technique will be used again!
I used a dark orange Copic marker to color just the banner on the card. I used YR14.
I felt that the background paper was too plain so I got out a swirly stamp from Judikins and added some black accents to the paper.
And here it is...all done...
I hope that you all enjoy a fun Halloween weekend! See you soon!
Oh, I totally love this creation!!!
XOXO

What a very cool story on how you and Corky became friends! And what a perfect card for her. That skeleton image is SO fabulous. I adore how you added just a touch of orange, and love your glittered flowers. Even the stamping on the background paper is just the most perfect touch. LOVE this, Wanda!

Great card again! I will share when I come home from work I usually get the mail and I can always tell when there is a card from Corky. She does an amazing job on both her cards and envelopes. The envelopes are totally decorated and are definitely a their own piece of art!

Ohhhh, ghoulfriend you're just too wonderful. And I loved learning all the little secrets that went into making that card so special. Which I absolutely love. I'll let Wanda tell u all about the mailing.
that's another crazy story. Wanda is the best penpal and isn't it great how we met. Whining at checkout. It's a challenge keeping up with her because she is so creative. What?! Hobby Lobby has come to Sacto. OMG! Thanks again Ghoulfriend. Happy Halloween and Dia de los Muertos to everyone.

Sorry, this is Karen again. I meant to ask how do you MAIL the cards with the flowers on them? Too early in the morning!

Love the flowers. Never thought of brushing on the glue. Makes sense. Now, would you share what paper you printed the card on so you could use Copics? And, how do you make these type of cards with the flowers on them? Thanks for sharing.

Genius, as usual, missy. I love seeing Dia De Los Muertos skeletons, they're so happy. Probably cuz they are being honored by their relatives that day. You did a bang up job. So creative. (Back to huddling under covers...lost power last night. Thank goodness for charged devices! Lol.)
