Two more amazing sets to be introduced today! The first one is called "Birds of a Feather" and is a full sized set on a 5.75" x 8.5" full color sturdy storage panel. It includes 21 images/sentiments! Gorgeous bird cages and four shapes of birds and cute words...LOVE. It was illustrated by Nancy McKinney as part of the Whimsical Wishes line. This set is very versatile...can be shabby chic and vintage or bright and colorful and clean...You're gonna love this one. 

Taylor made a Bird and Branch die set to use to cut out the main branch image and the little birdies too! SCORE! You can see the die set used in my card. I used the stamp with the branch, but for the birdies I just used the die and then colored them with ink.

 
 

See how perfectly that branch is cut out? The die is fantastic! It comes with a clear plastic index to put over the stamped image so you get it even. Wonderful. I stamped the branch in brown ink and then went back over it with some colored pencils to give it some texture, like bark.

 

The sentiments for this set are in a cool, vintagey font... I used the shabby chic My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Hattie paper collection. It has some neat colors in it- like this mustard yellow. Something different. I used my oval nestabilities and layered in some text paper.

 

The second stamp for today is an a la carte single stamp called "Hello." Well, you had me at hello! It's so perfect to send someone a quick note to let them know you're thinking about them! "Hello A la Carte" is illustrated by Nancy McKinney. This line of A la Cartes has been so well-received that Taylor is excited to introduce another that you'll want to use over and over again!

 
 

My whole card was inspired by the color palette from the My Mind's Eye Lime Twist -Happy Go Lucky paper pad. YUM. I had not ever used these colors together before. The paper led me to this Copic palette. OMG. Yes....I will be coming back to this one. Maybe for Fall projects?  

 

I used the TE Medium Scallop Border Die for that pretty violet border under the ribbon...

Today I'm introducing two stamp sets and two awesome dies! YEAH! I am so loving how Taylor is making dies to match her stamps!! Awesome. This is a long post, so hang in there with me!

The first set is called "Life is a Circus" and has cute animals and circus images. I'm introducing the Star Border die with it today. "Life is a Circus" is illustrated by Doug Applegate for the Apple Doodle Ink line of stamps and is a full sized set on a 5.75" x 8.5" full color sturdy storage panel. It includes 17 images!

 

I used my Copic Markers to color the images. The balloons are a separate image so you can add them to all the other stamps...perfect! I did my trick of popping the balloons on the outside of the circle too. SO loving that! I added clear glaze to the ball and the balloons. That star border die is OFF THE HOOK! Did you notice that I used the tiny stars it cut out - on my sentiment?  

 

 

 

 

 

 

I used the bright and cheery star paper from the Pink Paislee Hometown Summer Collection!

 

The second set being introduced today is called "In the Clouds" and has the most adorable blimps and banners! EEEK! Taylor made a matching die to cut out perfectly all those banner and blimpies! LOVE. Last, but not least, there is a brand new Cloud Border die!!! I used it to stamp the clouds in the background of my card. "In the Clouds" is a full sized set on a 5.75" x 8.5" full color sturdy storage panel and it has 25 images/sentiments. It was illustrated by Nancy McKinney as part of the Whimsical Wishes line. This is such a happy set!

 

You guys know I LOVE to make and easel card! This one is a big one...It's 5.5 x 5.5 inches when it's closed. I needed room for those blimpies! One thing I absolutely cannot live without from TE is the picket fence die! It's perfection. Crisp and white on these green rolling hills.  

 

I used the new cloud border die and sponged light blue ink to make some clouds...The hills were cut free hand from some green paper and sponged on the edges.  

 

The Blimps and Banners die cuts out everything just perfectly! That makes it easy to make a bunch of cards without having to do all the fussy cutting.  

 

 

 
As always, remember that TE stamps are made from top-quality deeply etched red rubber and come on EZ Mount already trimmed and ready to used with your acrylic blocks. Great system and great storage!

Friends Forever...

Happy Saturday! Today (hopefully) I'm spending my day in Washington DC! I can't wait to share my pictures when I get back! How are you? Hope you had a nice week! Today's card is a bit shabby chic and was 100% inspired by this beautiful paper from Cosmo Cricket. Inspiration comes from many places...sometimes a piece of paper, sometimes a stamp, sometimes blog surfing. For this card, it was the paper. YUM. Love these colors together!

 

 

One side of the paper is the pretty roses and the other side of the paper is the aqua polka dots. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? LOVE. The red flower is from Prima. That crochet ribbon is from Stampin' Up and I think I need to order about five rolls of it. It's really perfect for so many things.  

 

Just a little mini-collage of things...  

 

I cut a frame out of the paper with a Nestability and then popped it up with some foam tape over another piece of paper. Me likey. I matched the red in the paper with some Bazzill cardstock.

Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past June Blog Hop Day! Red, White and Blue!

Hi everyone! While you're reading this I am working away...far from home in Virginia! It's hotter than HECK here and I'm a wilted flower. I'm enjoying being in the heart of all this American History. No good pictures yet... Even though I'm away, you know I can't miss Blast from the Past Blog Hop Day! This month's theme is red, white and blue. I decided to do a different take on it than just going with a patriotic theme. I used this super cute cherries image and some of my favorite papers. I hope you are having a wonderful week and that you take some time to enjoy the hop today!   

The stamp set I used is from Taylored Expressions and is called Berries and Cherries! SO many cute images in this one.  I used the mega-cute paper collection from Girls Paperie called Kitch. I'm pretty sure I bought 10 sheets of every design of this one...so you'll be seeing it a lot on the bloggy blog!

 

 

Here's my Copic Color palette for this card...can't go wrong with that...clean and bright.  

 

The focal image and red layer  behind it were cut with my Blossom and Circle Nestabilities, using my Cuttlebug. F-U-N!

More clean and simple...

Today I'm posting a card I made a while back...inspired by the clean and simple design of Amuse stamps. Love their flowers and their word stamps! I have seen people do the technique where they draw a line around the edge of the card and that grounds the images. I'm not sure I did it completely perfectly...but a good try!

As you're reading this I am on my 15 hour journey to Richmond, Virginia... I am going from Sacramento to LA to Nashville to Norfolk...and then renting a car to go the last 90 miles to Richmond! Nothing but first class for me baby! Ha. Ugh. These long days are a test of patience but it's the necessary evil of going somewhere cool. I hope your week is off to a great start! Happy Saturday!

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get organized and packed for my trip that starts Monday. You know how it is...laundry, organizing, trying to remember 500 cords to everything...ugh. I've got it down to a science pretty much but it still is a hassle...no matter how you slice it. Mark is making a video and Buddy is, what else, sleeping...

I was going to wait until July 1st to change my blog banner over...but I really wanted to do it today! I'm feeling in a patriotic mood, what with my impending trip back east to the colonies, and it being so close to 4th of July.  The banner photo is a picture I took on our honeymoon, almost ten years ago. This was a building in Nantucket covered in flags. It really gives that east coast patriotic vibe... Of course, the picture was taken on FILM! What's that? Good thing for scanners!

I don't have a card to share today but I have some (more) pictures to share of my prized hydrangeas! I hope you're not tired of them?! They are GINORMOUS now! I nursed these from baby plants about five years ago. All the wet weather we had made them very happy! I put in a shot of our garage so you get the context! And, yes, that is a full size flag!

 

 

 

 

This is my favorite color on earth...only God could do this...  

 

 

 
 

Now this picture is of some Camellia leaves. The way the light was hitting the leaves made me stop and look. I thought it would be a good image to help with my Copic coloring of leaves?? It's very interesting if you study the play of the light and dark...and then there's the dark leaves in the background too. All the leaves appear to be one color, but when you look closer you see so much more.

Pink Lemonade...Shabby Tea Room Challenge #66!

Greetings and salutations! Just winding down the week in the old craft studio and finally got a chance to sit down and make a card for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge this week!  The theme this week is Pink Lemonade, and you are supposed to use pink, green, neutrals and flowers. Right up my alley, don'tcha think? Yessiree! Well, with those parameters I could have made 100 cards...so I had to narrow it down. I decided to creat my own stamping genre tonight...simple shabby chic! What do you think? I love to go all out shabby chic, but thought I would see what happened if I pared it down a bit. Here's the result:

 

 

I edged my kraft card base with white ink instead of the usual brown ink. Keeps it a little lighter. I cut out this pretty portion of the patterned paper and a little went a long way. Love this big Prima flower and a doily... The sentiment is from PTI. MMMMM.  

 

 

 

 

Next week I'm leaving for Richmond, Virginia for 10 days for a work trip! I'm so excited since I was born in Virginia and haven't been back since I was a baby... I'm looking forward to seeing where I came from. Also, on my weekend I'm going to go to Washington DC! Never been there either! I've been working on my Taylored Expressions July release projects (you're gonna love this release!) and need to get those done before I leave. After that, I'm going to try to make some cards ahead so I will have posts for you while I'm gone. And...you know I will have a billion pictures when I get back!!! Take care everyone.

 
 

A Black and White Affair....

Hello bloggy friends!! Greetings from HOT (finally) Sac-town!! Today I have something a little different to share with ya. Now, normally, you know I am ALL about the COLOR! Every color, any color, never-met-a-color-I-didn't-like... Well, today is a Black and White affair. Yes, that's right, no color on today's card! EEEK. Wh-at? Am I okay? Hahaha. I saw a few cards in my blog surfing last week that caught my eye and inspired me to use all black and white for a classy look. Hope you like it...and don't worry...there's more color coming! Have a fabulous crafty day.

 

 

I must say this really was kind of a cool thing to do...made me really think about my images and how to incorporate interest without pops of color. I think I will do this again...I think this could be very elegant for a wedding invite??  

 

The stamps on the focal image are from a Pink Paislee clear stamp set. It's three different stamps from the same set. LOVE. The background black paper was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder that kind of reminds me of wallpaper. I sponged some distress ink around the top image. and just the very tiniest bit of a kraft border.  

 

I had this black resin flower in my stash...and never used it because I thought...where the heck am I gonna use a black rose?? Well...here's my answer! I like it here in this context. Some pretty lace and some graphite blings finish it off. I thought of adding a sentiment...but nothing looked right.  

 

 

 

Maybe you will try this? I hope this has moved you to go out of your comfort zone too! Okay...now I'm off to check out the PTI June release...I'm 10 minutes late already! Have a good one! Mwah.  

 
 

Sweet Sunday Sketch - Garden Card!

Hi there! I hope your weekend was fun and fabulous! I had a very nice and busy weekend. Finally some pretty, sunny weather. Yay! Today's card is my entry for the Sweet Sunday Sketch that Karen Giron does. I love her sketches and I'm happy to play along this week. Click here to go check out her blog and see the other entries.

The stamp I used is an old PSX stamp from 1995. I love this image and haven't colored it in a long time. It just seemed perfect for a nice Summer card. I used my Copics and some simple, clean colors. Hope you likey!

I cut my circle out of white-core paper and then sanded the edges to give it some texture. I used kraft as a base for all that bright color. The image really is the focal point so I kept the rest simple.

 

 

 

 

 

I get by with a little help from my friends.... Seems Mr. Buddy did not want me to finish this card! He just plopped himself right in the middle of my project! What a crack up.

Birthday Party Across the Miles! It's a Birthday blog hop for Taylor Today!

 

 

 
 
Today is Taylor's birthday and we all wanted to show her some love! Since we couldn't all be together in one place to throw a party, we're having a virtual Birthday Party Across the Miles for her, and you are invited!  Just a fun little blog hop on a Sunday... We decided it would be cool to each choose a "fantasy" birthday present for Taylor! If money were no object...what would we buy her? Hmmmm. That was very difficult!  Of course, she doesn't need stamps! Taylor is about to be a mom for the first time, and she works very hard...so I would give her this:

 

 

 
 
A day of pampering and rest and rejuvenation at a beautiful spa...for Taylor and her husband! What a nice way to have a birthday break, right? If I could, actually, I would buy this for all of us! hee hee.

 

I sent Taylor a snail mail birthday card too...It's a card I made for the June TE release. Taylor loves this Green Acres stamp set!  I doctored up the inside a bit to make it a birthday card. Hopefully she got it in time!

Lovely Lemons!

Hiya! How was your week? I hope it was a great one! Lots going on these days...seems like everyone knows a grad or a bride... and vacations are starting... Guess we've officially arrived at Summer! After having freezing cold rain for over a week I am happy to say that it was 88 degrees here today in Sac-town... Which is just about perfect! It feels good to be warm and get some sun on my face. I went outside today and sat in the sun at lunch. I'm lucky enough to work near a park and near the river...lots of places to walk to. Really a gorgeous day!

My friend Kat wrote a sweet comment on my bloggy blog a few days ago and I keep thinking about it. It really touched me and what she wrote is perfect for today's card. Thanks Kat! Mwah! As I wrote earlier in the week I had some time to sit down and color some pretty Flourishes images. Today I'm posting the second one - Lovely Lemons!

 

 

 

 

Here is my pencil palette for the image...a few shades of yellow and some shades of bright citrus green. You see there's an orange pencil in there... I used just a touch of orange in the darkest parts of the lemons to add depth. I also added a touch of brown to the leaves.  I'm having fun re-experimenting with the pencils.

 

Some pretty paper flowers and, it seems, as of late, pearls on everything!  

 

Here's a super close up of my colored image. I cut the circles out with my nestabilities and then sponged some distress ink around the edges.  I was VERY tempted to get out some glitter... But I resisted!

Live the Sweet Life!

Hi Friends! Over the past couple of days I've had some time to relax and color some pretty images I've been dying to color! I have one to share today and I'll share the other one sometime later. I have been "Copic crazy" for a good little bit and so this week I decided to get out my colored pencils to change it up. Before I started using Copic markers, pencils were my weapon of choice!

Today's card is made with a beautiful image from Flourishes. The sentiment is from the same set. Their stamps are just so beautiful and classy. I love anything botanical or fruit themed, so these cherries are right up my alley! I hope you're having a good week. Thanks for popping by!

 

 

This is a new little trick I tried for the first time! I used my nestabilities but I left one part of the leaf outside of my circle! There are some great videos on Youtube about how to do this. I tried a practice one first and I'm glad I did! Cool, huh?  

 

A very simple color pallete...those are all the pencils I used!

 

 

 
 

This pretty lace ribbon is from Stampin' Up. That little butterfly doo dad is from Pink Paislee. I think that polka dot paper is from Stampin' Up too. Can't remember.  

 

Here's a close up of my coloring... You can see that all my highlights are on the same side of each cherry, as if the light is coming from the right side of the image. I used just a touch of brown in both the cherries and the leaves to give some depth. I must say that I learned how to do this by taking colored pencil classes from the master - Dave Brethauer!  Every time he teaches I take the class again...and always learn something!

 

 

 

Is it okay if I say that I really love how this card turned out? It gives me a good feeling, this one...

A change in plans...and making the best of it!

Hi everyone! What did you think of all the Taylored Expressions craziness this past week? Whew! Lots of fun and lots of projects to share. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I just have some ramblings for today and some pix to share. You know how I like to do it...this and that. I had been hoping to share with you something different today - but that didn't work out - so I'm sharing how we made the best of it.

The DH and I met on a blind date! 18 years ago yesterday, to be exact! We were set up by a mutual friend and our first date was for lunch. Well, the rest is history as they say. We went out for eight and a half years before we finally tied the knot (our 10 year wedding anniversary is this year), so we always celebrate June 4th as an anniversary too. One of my favorite singers is Adele and we bought tickets to see her in concert at the Berkeley Greek Theater last night. We got a pretty hotel room too and were all set for a very romantic weekend. Unfortunately, Adele ended up cancelling the concert and the rest of her US tour due to illness, and it was POURING rain, and freeeeezing all weekend too. I had hoped to share some cool photos of the concert as well as of the historic Berkeley City Club...but that was not meant to be.

DH and I have fun no matter what we're doing as long as we're together. So...we spent the day shopping and hanging out. We had a very nice lunch at PF Chang's and had some fun at the art store and at the mall. I took a few pictures and some of them came out alright! Today's post is a just a little photo essay. Thanks for coming by to see me!

Out in the front of the art store we saw this cute pink scooter...named Buddy! hahaha. LOVE this. Inside the art store we found 350 colors of Copic Markers! hee hee. (I only bought five)...

My favorite vignette from Pottery Barn! I could just move right in...just bring my clothes and some snacks and I'd be all set. This store is so gorgeous. I love the red, white and blue beach theme so much.

The sun came out for a little whle just at the end of the day. Everything was so fresh and clean and green. Felt good to breathe all the fresh air.   

 

Before driving home we decided to drive up to the top of Mt. Diablo and see the sunset. It did not disappoint...The hills are amazing this time of year. This is looking south from Mt. Diablo towards San Jose.  

 

 

 

Right before the sunset there was this amazing sliver of bright orange. It looked like a fire in the sky. Didn't last long. This is looking west out towards San Francisco.  

 
 

 

 

This morning Office Max was nice enough to put a little fort in the newspaper just for Buddy! He loved it right away! Silly cat. I wonder if he's 20% off, since he fits in the bag?  

 

Why yes, I am quite comfortable. Thanks for asking. Could you please bring me some crunchies?!

I love making these circle cards! Just cut two matching circles from your Nestabilities and put them together with a matching brad! Couldn't be easier! See that great wave die? That's a favorite!  Used my Copics to color her in and there you have it! I cut a smaller circle of white paper to put on the inside.

These are perfect sets for 4th of July, picnics, and your summer adventure scrapbooking!

My first project features the "Green Acres" set! I had a super hard time picking out which images to use because they are all so great. You could make a million projects with this set! The sentiments are off the hook cute! I decided to use the little farmer guy and the "hay there" saying just to make a fun card to send for now particular reason.  

 

LOTS of coloring on this one! I kept with a fresh color scheme of red, yellow and green to give it a farm fresh feeling. I added just a pop of blue on his overalls. That super cute fence die can be found here. I use that one A LOT!  

 

Look closely at the yellow background paper! Can you see that chicken wire pattern? That is an awesome new Impression Plate that Taylor is releasing this month. One side of it has this chicken wire pattern and the other side has a wood grain pattern. SO versatile!  

 

 

 

My second project is with the very patriotic "Uncle Sam" penguin! He is all ready to go watch fireworks and hang out! The sentiment is from another stamp set being released this month - "4th of July Wreath." I like the font a lot. I colored Mr. Penguin with my Copics and used some striped patterned paper from October Afternoon.

Hi Peeps! Today it's wedding day for the June Taylored Expressions releasae! OMG Cuppie is getting married! How cute is that? EEK! Today I'm featuring the "Sweet Bliss" and "Moka Charlotte" stamp sets. "Sweet Bliss" is a full size set illustrated by the talented Cuppie illustrator Jessie Olson. There are 16 images in all. "Moka Charlotte" is illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the TE Moka Collection and is a mini set of five images. Both are perfect for June wedding parties and preparations. I know you're going to love them!

Here is my first card for today, Mr. and Mrs. Cuppie!!

 

Don't they make a fine couple? Hee hee. This just totally makes me smile! You'll see that Cuppie is wearing his tuxedo. I did not use black - since that would be too dark and flat. I used a few different shades of cool gray Copics. Don't you love her pearl necklace and shimmery veil? OMG. Love.  

 

 

 

And here is the sweetest bride ever, Moka Charlotte! She is just innocent and beautiful and precious in her pretty gown. She makes a perfect bride. But, you could also make her a prom girl or a princess or a beauty queen!  Some of the other design team members are featuring her groom today...Moka Jack. I decided to make a sweet pink confection of a card for her.  I made this as a bridal shower card.

 

She is colored with Copics...just a few shades. You can see I put some very light aqua (BG000) on her dress to give it just a hint of color. I added fine glitter to her veil and the upper part of her gown.  I used Nestabilities for the focal image and this great border die from Taylor's collection.
